The perception of a trace of time, a trace of life, is subjectively shaped by the viewer's point of view in time. Be it PREVIEW, momentary involvement or REVIEW. Traces of time manifest themselves as traces of life on the person's face and thus become an expression of personal circumstances, values and feelings.
Traces as premonitions that are glorified with hope or masked with fear in the PREVIEW. Traces as records that are shown with satisfaction and pride or covered up with shame and frustration in the REVIEW. The mask is always a means of covering, concealing, hiding - from oneself and from others and thus becomes part of the person, a personal expression. The mask becomes consciously or unconsciously a symbiotic part of the person, is quickly at hand or cannot be removed at all.
The object VOR- UND RÜCKSCHAU brings the human face with all its traces and masks before the viewer's eye as a spatial metaphor. Whether the naked expression of the plaster cast, the emotional, spatially and temporally arranged variety of the paper masks or the leather-like covering of the face when plaster and paper are combined - the object becomes a trace of time.
